Life Reform Africa supports 150 orphans with education, scholastic materials, food, school uniforms and basic needs. They have been allocated to live with designated families in their homes in order to enjoy the family environment. Most of the orphaned children were taken from the internally displaced camp of people (refugees) who were victims of a tribal cleansing war after the 2007 national elections in Kenya and were left neglected. Each family lost at least one parent or both and were driven more than 50 miles away with no possessions. They settled on the village shopping centre near our charity centre and some camped on road reserves in makeshift shanty structures with poor hygiene and no sanitary facilities which made them vulnerable to water born diseases and other diseases, not to mention malnutrition.
